On Sunday, February 24, at 11.00 a press conference presenting three new collector coins dedicated to the 90th anniversary of
the Republic of Estonia takes place in Eesti Pank's Independence Hall (Estonia pst 13). After the press conference it is possible to buy the
coins in the same room.
Eesti Pank will issue the three collector coins dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the
Republic of Estonia on February 22. The central bank will introduce the coins to the public and start selling them on February 24. The collector
coin set minted by the Mint of Finland includes:
A silver coin with nominal value of 10 kroons. The averse
carries the coat of arms of the Republic of Estonia, the text "EESTI VABARIIK" and the year of issue 2008. The reverse
of the 10-kroon silver coin depicts an oak tree, which is called the Wiiralt oak after the engraving "Viljandi
maastik" (The landscape of Viljandi) created by the famous artist Eduard Wiiralt. The alloy symbol Ag 999 has been engraved on the
coin edge. The silver collector coin was designed by Heino Prunsvelt. The maximum mintage of the Proof quality silver coins (Ag 999, weight 28.28
g) is 10,000.
A gold coin with nominal value of 50 kroons. The averse depicts Estonia's national coat of arms, the
logo of the 90th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, and the year of issue 2008. The reverse bears a windmill and the nominal value
"50 KROONI". The alloy symbol Au 999 has been engraved on the coin edge. The gold collector coin was designed by Jaano
Ester. The maximum mintage of the Proof Like quality gold coins (Au 999, weight 8.64 g) is 5,000.
A platinum coin with nominal value of 100 kroons. The averse of the collector coin carries Estonia's national coat of arms
and the year of issue 2008. The reverse depicts barn swallows, Estonian national birds, and the nominal value "100 KROONI".
The alloy symbol Pt 999 has been engraved on the coin edge. The platinum collector coin was designed by Tiit Jürna. The maximum mintage of the
Brilliant Uncirculated quality platinum coins (Pt 999, weight 7.775 g) is 3,000.
The coins can be purchased both by sets and individually. The selling price of the coins will be made public on February 22.
Both media channels and townspeople are welcome to the press conference. After the press conference dedicated to introducing
the collector coins is over, everyone will be able to buy the coins. Both cash and bank cards are accepted. Starting from February 27, it is
possible to buy the collector coins from the Museum of Eesti Pank. The museum will not sell coins on February 24.
