EESTI PANK WELCOMES VISITING RESEARCHERS FOR 2008

The Research Department of Eesti Pank offers faculty or post-doctoral level economists the possibility of working for Eesti Pank for 2-6 months as a visiting researcher.

A visiting researcher is obliged to carry out research in one of the following areas of interest to Eesti Pank:
1) monetary policy;
2) the financial sector;
3) the sustainability of the Estonian monetary system;
4) the development of forecasting and/or general equilibrium models.

The visiting researcher is expected to conduct his/her research based on a mutually agreed upon research plan. The resulting research papers will be published in the Working Paper Series of Eesti Pank. It is presumed that the visiting researcher will give seminars on his/her research to the economists of the Bank and actively take part in the regular intra-bank discussions.
Visiting researchers are remunerated according to their agreed upon employment contracts. The remuneration of the researcher depends on his/her experience and academic reputation.

Applicants are expected to send the following to Eesti Pank:
   a short description of the proposed research project, which must include:
1) the topic and subtopics to be focused;
2) description of the problems, incl. possible solutions;
3) introduction to the theoretical background;
4) introduction to the research methodology to be used;
5) applied objective of the results;
6) output format (overview of the materials used, empirical analysis of the phenomenon, analysis of the reasons and conclusions of the phenomenon, and model of the phenomenon)
   recommended starting time and expected duration of the research project
   CV with an emphasis on the applicant's academic background and experience in the field of research and scientific work
   two letters of recommendation that include the data of the referees
   if possible, an earlier research paper written by the applicant (the topic is irrelevant)

The deadline for the submission of applications is 31 October 2007.
