In order to implement successful monetary policy, every central bank, including Eesti Pank, needs an efficient settlement system for settling payments in the base currency. That is why Eesti Pank has in recent years been focusing on the development of settlement systems. Modern and efficient interbank settlement systems are also a precondition for the efficient and secure functioning of the payment and settlement system as a whole, guaranteeing an efficient currency circulation in the country. Trust in the monetary system is also enhanced by properly meeting the public's cash demand.
